Pilates Research: A Call for Collaboration
Research plays a vital role in advancing the Pilates profession. By contributing to shared knowledge, the Pilates community strengthens its credibility, supports evidence-informed practice, and helps ensure the method continues to evolve responsibly within the broader health and movement landscape.
The PMA invites researchers, educators, and practitioners to work together in support of high-quality Pilates-related research. Through collaboration and transparency, we aim to foster meaningful dialogue, elevate professional standards, and contribute to a growing body of work that benefits the entire industry.
Research submissions are currently open. We welcome Pilates-related studies, ongoing projects, and completed research that contribute to the understanding, application, and advancement of the Pilates method. If you are conducting research or exploring a relevant area of inquiry, we invite you to share your work with the PMA community.
Pilates Reformer Exercises and Fall Risk Reduction
This randomized controlled trial examines the effects of a structured Pilates Reformer program on balance, mobility, and fall risk in adults aged 65 and older. Conducted over a ten-week period, the study compares outcomes between participants who engaged in weekly Reformer-based Pilates sessions and a control group with no exercise intervention.
