Benefits of Pilates on Depression, Anxiety, and Stress: An Observational Study Comparing People Practicing Pilates to Non-Active Controls


This observational study evaluated psychological outcomes in adults practicing Pilates compared to inactive controls, with a focus on symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and associated behaviors at risk for stress-related physical disorders. Participants who engaged in regular Pilates demonstrated significant reductions in anxiety, depression, and somatization, alongside improvements in stress-related risk behaviors, relative to non-active individuals.
