Pilates Day

Pilates Day is an annual, international, community event celebrated on the first Saturday of May every year.

The Pilates Day mission is to foster the public’s appreciation and awareness of the Pilates Method through a network of varied, innovative, and high quality grassroots Pilates events accessible and affordable for all.

Are you interested in introducing your work to a new sector of your community – perhaps senior citizens, people with low back pain, tennis players, and your book club? Maybe you’ve had an idea kicking around in your mind about how to promote Pilates, but you haven’t gotten around to it. Here’s your chance! The PMA encourages all interested parties to become active in this international initiative to create community and bring people into Pilates classes.

Pilates is Health

How has Pilates improved your health? This is the key question asked by the Pilates is Health initiative.

The Pilates Method can be successfully applied in a vast range of situations to improve health and well being. From the elite athlete in peak physical condition to the person in need of post-rehabilitation exercise to facilitate basic functional movement, to everyone in between, Pilates has something extraordinary to offer.

By collecting the personal experiences of those who are practicing this extraordinary exercise method, Pilates is Health seeks to communicate the value of this life changing system.

Heros in Motion                    Pilates 4 Youth

Heroes in Motion® is an international initiative founded by the Pilates Method Alliance, inspired by instructors who are dedicated to facilitating functional movement with comfort and ease for those who experience severe impediments to motor control. The initiative supports the development of an international network of Pilates teachers who offer movement instruction to eligible clients in their community. It serves clients with military and civilian affiliations. Conditions include and are not limited to polytrauma, vestibular disorders, prosthetic limb(s) and traumatic brain injury.

Pilates 4 Youth is an initiative of the Pilates Method Alliance originally conceived in 2002. The aim of the initiative is to foster and encourage teaching Pilates to children and adolescents safely and appropriately, taking into consideration the physiological and cognitive stages of development that they undergo.
