COLORADO - Moving Beyond Method -The Alchemy of Mindful Movement Teaching
Friday, November 2, 2018 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Park Meadows Pilates and Physical Therapy 8600 Park Meadows Dr. #200 Lone Tree, CO 80124

Date of workshop: 11/2/18
Workshop time: Friday 2pm - 8pm, Saturday 10:00am - 5:30pm
Presenter(s): Lindy Royer, PT, Master Movement Instructor
Title of workshop: Moving Beyond Method -The Alchemy of Mindful Movement Teaching
Workshop description: What does it mean to “teach”? In Pilates training, you spend hundreds of hours studying what to teach, and very little time discovering HOW to teach. Mindful Movement requires teaching skills that go beyond the mechanics. Mindful Movement teaching is an Art and to create impactful movement change, a masterful teacher knows how to facilitate an environment in which the student comes to their own “Ah-Ha” moments of self-discovery. Mechanics-centric teaching frequently does the opposite, strengthening old, habitual and ineffective patterns, and ultimately leading to increased dysfunction in the client. The skills we need to master Mindful Movement teaching go beyond the methods we study, and many years of teaching is no guarantee of expertise. In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore how to: *Create an environment for movement learning and make each session motivating and memorable *Facilitate effective, positive and lasting changes in your clients *Develop and expand internal motivation, engagement and interest while growing your creativity and preventing burn out.

TEXAS - Look, Listen, Push, Pull: Training Freedom and Support in the Head, Neck, and Shoulders
Saturday, November 3, 2018 - Sunday, November 4, 2018 - All Day
Pilates Connection 6043 Sherry Ln, Dallas, TX 75225 United States

Date of Workshop: November 3 - 4, 2018
Presenter(s): Cara Reeser and Jeremy Laverdure
Workshop Time of day: TBA
Title of Workshop: Look, Listen, Push, Pull: Training Freedom and Support in the Head, Neck, and Shoulders
Workshop Description: Our neck functions to position our head for seeing, hearing, and communicating. Our shoulders are meant to allow our arms and hands to reach, grasp, and push in a large range. Easy enough, right? So why do our clients experience so much difficulty and discomfort in their necks and shoulders? Poor postural habits, learned physical attitudes, and our universal use of computers probably contribute. But, as Pilates teachers, are we helping our clients retrain bad patterns or just adding new ones? In this Movement Science Made Simple course we will: -Study the organization of the head, neck, and shoulder girdle in common Pilates exercises. -Examine the relationship between the arms, shoulder girdle and trunk in both open and closed kinematic chains. We know poor use of the neck and shoulders when we see it, but what are we really seeing? -Learn simple exercises and gentle hands-on techniques for mobilizing the neck and shoulders and re-patterning their movement. Enrollment in a single day of the course is not permitted.

Workshop time: 9:00am - 4:30pm
Presenter(s): Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle
Title of workshop: Journey into the Advanced Mat….Delving into the Fascial Matrix
Workshop description: JOIN US in this inspiring, challenging and playful workshop, with Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle, as we delve into how the body’s crystalline fascial matrix can release long held tension patterns through the backdrop of the Advanced Pilates Mat Work. Once tension is released, even the most challenging exercises have exciting new possibilities. We now know that the network of fascia is not just an organ of support. Fascia plays a key role in the organization of our bodies in movement during everyday physical and mental demands. Rather than overworking muscular tension, learn how to access your fascial body, which is considered an electrical circuit for our internal organs and emotions, whose continuities are aligned with acupuncture meridians. In this workshop, you will: • Experience how your crystalline fascial matrix supports your muscles, bones and internal organs in movement, so the most difficult movements become simpler and yet progress challenge effectively • Discover how fascia and breath have an elastic-like recoil that work together. By sensing the back’s lumbodorsal fascial support in concert with the breath, the outcome is an internal balance of strength and flexibility for maximum ease in movement. • Learn how to use PROPS as “tools for change” to support clients in relationship with gravity, rather than as a means to align them into visual symmetry. • Discover how “yielding” to gravity while moving, awakens your natural uplift, to release tension in your neck, jaw, shoulders, back, hips and other areas of articulation • Learn to re-set the nervous system’s primal connections, coming from a place of safety and support to illuminate a deeper understanding of the progression of the Basic to Intermediate Pilates exercises. • Experience a playful approach to the Advanced Pilates Mat, as you work with partners to support fascial connections for the student in motion. • Discover a fluid, fascial approach to moving and teaching, that you can take well beyond th

Workshop time: 10:00am - 6:00pm
Presenter(s): Trina Altman
Title of workshop: Pilates Deconstructed® Toolbox For Your Reformer Classes
Workshop description: Master teachers know that conveying concepts - not just repertoire - in a group reformer class is what truly sets them apart from the novice instructors. Concepts keep clients coming back for more. In this workshop, you'll learn how to sequence reformer classes by teaching preparatory movement skills that are a microcosm of more complicated exercises. In this day-long intensive, you'll learn where and when in a class to add, stir, chop, and mix: building blocks for the "peak" exercise, demos for visual learners, opportunities for palpating the teacher during a demo, and the A-HA learning lightbulb moments they crave. You'll go home with template handouts detailing the exercises from each one-hour class so you can teach them to your students. More importantly, you'll acquire the analytical skills to acknowledge the beauty in the "bits and pieces" of any and all complex movement patterns while deepening your understanding of the body.
