Title of workshop: The Scapulohumeral Rhythm, Rotator Cuff, Shoulder Impingement and Pilates
Workshop description: Many Pilates program focus on the large muscles of the shoulder with inadequate emphasis on the small muscles of the scapula and the rotator cuff that are key for detailed technique and injury prevention. This workshop will increase your understanding of and ability to recognize coordinated and disrupted movement between the scapula and upper arm (scapulohumeral rhythm). These concepts will then be applied to classical and novel Pilates exercises that are vital for promoting a healthy scapulohumeral rhythm, as well as working with clients with shoulder impingement and rotator cuff problems.

GREECE - Reforming Flexibility/Enhancing Flexibility with Pilates
Sunday, March 3, 2019 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Braziotis Stelios at A.F.Studies Fitness Academy Leof. Agiou Dimitriou 35, Ag. Dimitrios 173 43 Athens, Greece (contact studio for convention venue info)

Date of workshop: 03/03/19
Workshop time: 9am - 1pm
Presenter(s): Karen Clippinger
Title of workshop: Reforming Flexibility/Enhancing Flexibility with Pilates
Workshop description: Many clients miss potential flexibility benefits of Pilates by failing to adequately stabilize body segments or by allowing undesired compensations to occur when end ranges of motion are approached. This workshop will provide key principles of flexibility training, as well as sample stretches on the Reformer with cues that can be utilized to enhance their effectiveness without breaking the flow of the session. The focus will be on providing exercises for the spine, hip, and shoulder that incorporate static, PNF, and dynamic approaches that can be tailored to meet your client’s needs. These exercises will both improve flexibility and help prepare clients for classical repertoire that demands large ranges of motion.
