Topics that will be addressed include fine-tuning movements, proper use of props, tactile cueing, Pilates then and now, back to the basics and more. “It was so great to be in your teaching space once again- the energy and infectious enthusiasm you bring to your students is amazing! The key thing I’m going to take forward is to remember that every exercise is a full body exercise and when it doesn’t feel like that, to always look for the opposing forces in the movement to figure out what needs to be turned on that isn’t. And, when in doubt, I’m probably not using either my abs or glutes (or both) anywhere near enough in most exercises.” –David Johnson: participant of Pilates Fine Tuning Workshop in San Diego

Jon is happy to say that the human skeleton model, the Maniken®, has found its way into more than 4,000 schools nationwide. For more information on AIC products please go to anatomyinclay.com. This course offers a review of the Core Structure and moves beyond into explanation and study of important Global Mobilizers. Experience anatomy in a dynamic way by building musculature in clay! Students study and build musclessimultaneously from the inside out learning to recognize and appreciate interactive relationships. This facilitates the development of understanding of musculature in a three dimensional perspective. NO experience in clay or sculpture is necessary. Come to refresh your anatomy knowledge and to bring it to life in three dimensions. This course is ideal for anatomy or science teachers and lecturers, massage or sports therapists, artists, movement practitioners (such as yoga, Pilates or fitness professionals and personal trainers), beauty or holistic therapists, health professionals or anyone fascinated with the human body. During this program, participants will learn methods to use when teaching clients that will improve both focus and other ADHD symptoms. Ultimately, proper Pilates techniques learned in this training will offer clients an effective management tool in the treatment of ADHD. Why Study Pilates & ADHD Attention to the issues associated with ADHD has increased over the last decade. Many sufferers of the disorder are searching for ways to manage their symptoms. Joseph Pilates observed that society was focusing solely on furthering the development of the mind and neglecting the development of the body. Pilates understood that the well-being of an individual could only be achieved by engaging both the mind and the body. When used as part of an ADHD treatment regimen, the Pilates method can improve an individual’s ability to focus, thus reducing ADHD symptoms and improving the quality of life for sufferers of these disorders. Laura Grant not only works with clients who have ADHD, but also lives with ADHD. This course provides two perspectives teaching and personal experience. Pilates & ADHD workshop is designed to teach both instructors and ADHD sufferers how to use the Pilates Method as a tool in the treatment of symptoms.

This course includes the latest research results relevant to today’s trainer in construction, injury repair, force transmission, postural compensation, response to various forms of stretch, elasticity, fascial neurology, hydration and aging, as well as fascial pain - all of which are taking place within the extra-cellular matrix of fibers and mucopolysaccharide 'glue' See and feel the various layers and types of fascial tissue, understand all the fascial elements and their properties, how ‘sensori-motor-amnesia’ can rob us of our full potential, how rest is important to tissue health, and how all the fascial tissues ‘hang together’ to make total body movement. Better Teaching, Better Retention - ILLINOIS
Saturday, November 14, 2015 - All Day

Date of Workshop: Saturday, November 14th, 2015 2-6PM
Presenter(s): Regan Hoerster
Title of Workshop: Better Teaching, Better Retention
Workshop Description: A successful teacher inspires, creates an open dialogue and partnership with her students, and gets them to enthusiastically come back for more. An excellent teacher helps his students progress by getting them to consciously participate in their own physical development. We will explore the ‘conscious competence learning matrix’ to understand how active, effective and higher learning is achieved. We will learn how to decipher what stage your client is at on the matrix, and why, when a skill needs to be developed, it is crucial to get them to conscious incompetence. How can we help our students become aware of their incompetence in a respectful, empowering way? And then harness that lightbulb moment into an opportunity for change and skill development. Making clients actively involved in the process of learning is crucial to keeping them passionate, progressing, and ultimately coming back for more! Furthermore, how do you take effective notes and develop lesson plans with this in mind? As an instructor, you have to develop your eye to see where the incompetence lies, develop your skills and creativity to help the client see them as well, and finally have a plan and appropriate exercises and cues to create intelligent competence/reflective understanding. If you find yourself saying the same cues over and over; your clients are not understanding, applying and progressing; and you feel challenged with client retention, this workshop is for you!
