SEPARATE BUT CONNECTED: TRAINING SELECTIVE CONTROL OF THE HIPS, PELVIS, AND LOW BACK (A Movement Science Made Simple Workshop) - COLORADO
Saturday, September 17, 2016 - Sunday, September 18, 2016 - All Day
Denver, CO

Date of Workshop: Saturday September 17th and Sunday September 18th, 2016
Presenter(s): Cara Reeser and Jeremy Laverdure
Title of Workshop: SEPARATE BUT CONNECTED: TRAINING SELECTIVE CONTROL OF THE HIPS, PELVIS, AND LOW BACK (A Movement Science Made Simple Workshop)
Workshop Description: Freedom and stability in the trunk depend on freedom and stability in the hips. In this course, we will use the model of lumbo-pelvi-femoral rhythm as a means of organizing the legs, pelvis, and low back in whole body movements. This model integrates and improves upon both static models of lumbar stabilization (neutral pelvis/spine) and the Classical Pilates view of spinal mobility (“one vertebra at a time”). As teachers, our tools are demonstration, touch, and language. To be effective teachers our demonstration must be fully embodied, our touch supportive, and our language direct or poetic as needed. Movement Science Made Simple joins current concepts in anatomy, kinesiology, and motor learning with time-tested movement training strategies, giving workshop participants new skills to work with diverse client populations. The evolutionary F2 retains all the functionality of the original pieces, with additional dimensions and versatility. Specifically, the F2’s unique and highly-adjustable resistance mechanism multiplies the available resistance options and provides highly-accurate angles of resistance, thus promoting greater and more precise strength gains. Presenter(s): Dr. Suzanne Martin

Title of Workshop: Taming Asymmetries in the Body: Background and Assessments (Lecture and Mat)

Workshop Description: Many of our clients come to us with asymmetries. Learn about how patterns of movement evolve due to preference for an individual to use one limb, and eyesight. Evidence suggests these preferences are often the cause for many body pains including neck, shoulder, pelvic and low back pain. Learn to identify these prominent movement patterns while also learning to develop strategies to address them with our Pilates Mat environment. Focus is on the use of the neurodevelopmental sequence, the 8 milestones of the first year before walking. Come away with strategies not only aid symmetry of body position but also of functioning for daily life and recreational activities. ****This workshop is appropriate for fitness instructors, movement educators and therapists

BODY HARMONICS Core Integrity - CALIFORNIA
Thursday, October 6, 2016 - Friday, October 7, 2016
Oakland, CA

Date of Workshop: OCT 6th and 7th, 2016 - 12-6pm
Presenter(s): Holly Wallis, PMA-CPT
Title of Workshop: BODY HARMONICS Core Integrity - CALIFORNIA
Workshop Description: "CORE" is a popular (yet misunderstood) buzz word in any fitness environment. Yet, we know a strong core is the key to optimal function, balance and equilibrium. The question remains: how can we best facilitate effective core control, and still create programs that appeal to average people who can't connect to subtle movements and deep inner muscles? In this course, we take a global approach to the concept of CORE and analyze both the inner and outer cylinders of support. These "core systems" help produce support and movement for the entire body as they bend and spiral the torso. In-depth analysis is reinforced through observation and self-practice using specific exercises for each layer. You leave with a clear plan of how to create optimal core function and support with your clients. There are two easy ways to save: 1) Save 10% when you register for 2 or more courses together. OR 2) Save 10% when you refer a friend who registers for the same course. Visit www.reactivemovement.com/Teacher-Training for the current course calendar and to register.

Saturday, January 21, 2017 - Sunday, January 22, 2017 - All Day
Asheville, NC

Date of Workshop: January 21-22, 2017

Presenter(s): Casey Marie Herdt

Title of Workshop: PRACTICAL RELEASE WORKSHOP

Workshop Description: As any good teacher knows, the intent of the Pilates repertiore is not to get to the most advanced movement form quickly, but to truly embody every single phase of the exercise with ease, grace, and agility. This can only occur when time and effort has been placed in priming the body for movement, and focus is continually placed on the skills behind the work. Stones BalanceRelease work is the first step in helping your clients into successful core training within the Pilates repertoire. In this workshop you will learn how and why various tightness in the body directly lead to compensatory patterning that leaves the body weak, unstable, and vulnerable to injury. You will learn to help your clients break through their typical fitness routine and discover the depth of their strength via increased joint range of motion and kinesthetic accuracy. The simple and easy techniques that you will learn will aid your clients into a more homeostatic baseline and create the step by step process for true change in all of your client’s bodies, ranging from your most advanced athlete, to your therapeutic clientele. This type of tiered approach is what takes your clients from simple shape making in the repertoire, to truly embodying every moment in the movement with complete command and precision.
