MELT Method Hand and Foot Instructor Training - CALIFORNIA
Friday, January 9, 2015 - Sunday, January 11, 2015

Date of Workshop: January 9-11, 2015
Presenter(s): Sue Hitzmann
Title of Workshop: MELT Method Hand and Foot Instructor Training
Workshop Description: The MELT Hand and Foot Instructor Training: New Science of the Human Body is the foundation of MELT professional training and the prerequisite for all further training. MELT Hand and Foot Instructor Training is a 21-hour course that examines the latest scientific understanding of the human body as it relates to alignment, stress, chronic pain, and the negative effects associated with aging. Participants will gain an understanding of the neurofascial system – the interconnectedness of the nervous system and the connective tissue system, which creates a whole-body communication network that serves to support, protect, and stabilize us in motion and at rest. In MELT, we call this system the Autopilot. Discover how the Autopilot works – and why it often doesn't work well, particularly as we age. Learn what you can do to keep it functioning efficiently. Then find out how the MELT Hand and Foot Treatment can tap into this system to improve whole-body connection, communication, and alignment. Prerequisite: None. This training is appropriate for anyone who is fascinated by the workings of the human body and who wants to help themselves and others stay active and pain-free for a lifetime.

Pilates & ADHD - NORTH CAROLINA
Saturday, April 25, 2015 - Sunday, April 26, 2015

Date of Workshop: April 25-26, 2015
Presenter(s): Laura Browning Grant
Title of Workshop: Pilates & ADHD
Workshop Description: This course offers both those who teach Pilates and those practicing Pilates an understanding of Adult ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and the positive benefits Pilates has on individuals suffering from symptoms of this disorder. During this program, participants will learn methods to use when teaching clients that will improve both focus and other ADHD symptoms. Ultimately, proper Pilates techniques learned in this training will offer clients an effective management tool in the treatment of ADHD. Why Study Pilates & ADHD Attention to the issues associated with ADHD has increased over the last decade. Many sufferers of the disorder are searching for ways to manage their symptoms. Joseph Pilates observed that society was focusing solely on furthering the development of the mind and neglecting the development of the body. Pilates understood that the well-being of an individual could only be achieved by engaging both the mind and the body. When used as part of an ADHD treatment regimen, the Pilates method can improve an individual’s ability to focus, thus reducing ADHD symptoms and improving the quality of life for sufferers of these disorders. Laura Grant not only works with clients who have ADHD, but also lives with ADHD. This course provides two perspectives—teaching and personal experience. Pilates & ADHD workshop is designed to teach both instructors and ADHD sufferers how to use the Pilates Method as a tool in the treatment of symptoms.
