Tensegrity in Motion - ILLINOIS
Sunday, February 8, 2015 - All Day

Date of Workshop: February 8, 2015
Presenter(s): Amy Lange
Title of Workshop: Tensegrity in Motion
Workshop Description: Tensegrity refers to a physical structure of maximum strength and elasticity. Observing the human body as a bio-tensegral form, we will define tensional integrity and explore what it looks and feels like. Then looking more closely at the spine through this lens, we will discover that flexion and extension are not that different from each other and that they exist simultaneously in all our actions. If we practice tensegrity and keep our connection with the equipment, the exercises will shape the spine organically, promoting the optimal timing of the myofascial network that our body craves and only our nervous system can generate. Shedding new light on words we use repeatedly to cue our clients’ spines will bring clarity to what we are asking for and more effective results toward uniform development!

Pilates & ADHD - NORTH CAROLINA

Date of Workshop: April 25-26, 2015
Presenter(s): Laura Browning Grant
Title of Workshop: Pilates & ADHD
Workshop Description: This course offers both those who teach Pilates and those practicing Pilates an understanding of Adult ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and the positive benefits Pilates has on individuals suffering from symptoms of this disorder. During this program, participants will learn methods to use when teaching clients that will improve both focus and other ADHD symptoms. Ultimately, proper Pilates techniques learned in this training will offer clients an effective management tool in the treatment of ADHD. Why Study Pilates & ADHD Attention to the issues associated with ADHD has increased over the last decade. Many sufferers of the disorder are searching for ways to manage their symptoms. Joseph Pilates observed that society was focusing solely on furthering the development of the mind and neglecting the development of the body. Pilates understood that the well-being of an individual could only be achieved by engaging both the mind and the body. When used as part of an ADHD treatment regimen, the Pilates method can improve an individual’s ability to focus, thus reducing ADHD symptoms and improving the quality of life for sufferers of these disorders. Laura Grant not only works with clients who have ADHD, but also lives with ADHD. This course provides two perspectives—teaching and personal experience. Pilates & ADHD workshop is designed to teach both instructors and ADHD sufferers how to use the Pilates Method as a tool in the treatment of symptoms.
